Disclaimer: I do not own Death Note, Tsugumi Ohba and Takeshi Obata do. However, I do own this story.
Notes: Written on the spot for [livejournal.com profile] aa_lithium (which explains why it's such a piece of crap. XDD), who requested "flute playing Matt and cello player Mello"~

Sometimes, Matt wondered if this was all wrong.

Yes, he loved the music; the feeling that it brought when he pressed his fingers against the (his?) smooth surface (surface was such an inaccurate word) was simply irreplaceable, after all. But, if he was doing it for all the wrong reasons… Would it still be right?

…So, when they were performing on top of that stage, in front of those people, playing their music, Matt, whose lips were tightly pressed around the embouchure as the room was filled with music (sweet, sweet music, almost as sweet as--), couldn’t help but to focus on his music.

(--him.)

Perhaps they had both been lead so far astray that right was wrong and simple music became something else (because, really, the violoncello and the flute went oh-so well together, oh so they’d been told); or perhaps, they’d simply been like this all along, skipping practice to go behind the back and--

(--touch, touch, touch; the background music of off-key violins and flutes not quite in place with the scene being displayed, or perhaps, they were the ones out of place.)

…Or perhaps, this had been right all along.
